After the Women's National Team's failure with the Olympic Qualifiers against Romania and Montenegro, one inevitably thinks: Why did it go wrong? At the same time, you hear players, the national coach, the press making statements about why we lost. And then you sit like an ordinary spectator and think: It's incredible that they haven't noticed WHAT THE CAUSE ACTUALLY WAS? I don't believe it was because our players are not skilled. On the other hand, I am completely convinced: THIS IS WHY WE LOST: We mostly have 6 players in attack. When throughout the match against both Romania and Montenegro we have 2 players standing passively in the opponents corners - who basically never received the ball - and the few times they got the ball they burned. The two wings contributed NOTHING. On the contrary. NOT A SINGLE SCORING. And at no time were they replaced. The other 4 in the attack huddled together within the middle 6-7 meters, where all the opponents were also standing. Then it is difficult to make goals. How to proceed with this setup. First in the whole match against Romania and then the same against Montenegro. 4 against 6 in the whole match - this corresponds to us having 2 players sent off for all 60 minutes. At least when we are in attack. And then they talk afterwards that we had difficulty scoring goals. Wasn't there anyone who had eyes in their head. The two wing players could probably be of greater use inside the line instead of standing totally passive! Don't they dare mention this to their coach? Or has he completely lost track of himself? When there was a time-out, he talked a lot of the time about "Anne-Grethe" having to do your thing and play that way. I thought handball was a team sport. It was the whole line-up and strategy that was wrong and missing. And you don't need to be an expert to see that. When we were finally behind by 5 goals with less than two minutes to go, something finally happened with our 6-0 defense. They approached the opponents. Why do you first get that idea - when the battle has long been lost. Totally amateurish. There is only one person in charge. And the worst part of it all is that he doesn't seem to know it himself. Everyone else must have been able to see the same thing as me. But no one mentions it. In any case, he does not take the blame for the team playing 4 against 6. And loses. Any team would do that on those terms.
