My experience with covering spring 2020: Both covering and re-covering at Glymur failed. DONT GO THERE!!!!! In 2017, my mare became pregnant after six weeks (!) at Glymur. However, she lost the foal again but later than the 40 days as Bakkeholm Requires relative scan. Will have the option of re-covering in 2020 (as most would). Charlotte recommended that I get swabbed before arrival. I got that fixed quickly and drove the horse 2 hours to Græsted from Kalundborg. Here I got some bad news. No heat and maybe problem with multiple follicles. semen in the syringe that was ready for insemination had to be poured out. But it was only the agreement that I should make swabs. Do not scan. I also didn't know it had to be inseminated actually. The horse 2 hours in the trailer back home. I would have liked to have known to scan her before the trip up - but I don't have the experience and didn't know. Thought she was going to be there for a few weeks. 14 days later for a scan with the rep vet, nothing was wrong. In return, the horse was in heat and had to leave immediately. Since it couldn't work out with the logistics of my work and Charlotte couldn't accept in the evening when I was free, the agreement was that I drove after sperm that Charlotte had put forward. It had to be sprayed up the next day, but the next day it was of such poor quality that nothing came of it. For inexplicable reasons, Charlotte had "made the sperm ready for insemination the same day". Which vet jumps up and inseminates at 10pm(?) and which customer pays for it(?). This drive was also wasted as the semen "wasn't made for the next day" and was of very poor quality. Grassed t/r and DKK 1000 for insemination at the vet wasted due to incorrectly prepared semen!! I could have hoped that more had been asked about the situation before I drove off as an inexperienced person and spent a lot of money at my own vet. Then I might have said no thanks. I honestly feel rather cheated here. Charlotte was either only on messenger or very busy, concise and unclear. Last wasted trip to Græsted, I took the horse with me, which is again in heat, this time scanned by my own vet. Still, she is not ready to be covered unless you either inseminate (Bakkeholm suddenly no longer does that) or "rape" as it was called. Fine. As agreed, the horse stays standing to be covered the next day with more peace of mind, but becomes very stressed. First of the cows that got up from the paddock. Next, general insecurity and herd mentality, finally in a box where she is unhappy. A cover is forced through on Saturday morning. But no more than that. My mare has damaged several folds and joints and folds and needs to be picked up asap. It has been a terrible encounter with the sensory adventure. And expensive. Back in 2017, she was pregnant on day 40. What I didn't know at the time was that the insurance only covers pregnant women on day 70. It's just a shame that a beginner and amateur doesn't manage it here. After all, no one knows whether she would or would not have been pregnant on day 70 and, if so, what I could have received in terms of financial compensation. However, I would have liked to have been made aware of it - or that one might, as some other stallion owners do - demand a scan on day 75 and then pay in case of pregnancy. I am left with a very dull feeling that this has been a very costly adventure on several different bottom lines. The wedding gift has been cancelled. And I'm just really sad. Although from Bakkeholm's side you think you have gone a long way, it is not an experience I can recommend to anyone. Then I also eased my heart to whom it concerns.
