Charlottenlund Fort is not just an old military fort. It is also an exciting and beautiful park with a popular bathing beach and bathing establishment. It is located between Charlottenlund Skov and Øresund, and the open lawns form a framework for a wealth of leisure activities. Here is both the opportunity for sunbathing, play and ball games, picnics and a dip in the waves of the Øresund. The fort was built below Charlottenlund Castle as part of the Copenhagen Fortress in the years 1886-88. In 1910, it was rebuilt into a regular sea fort and was one of the forts that were to protect Copenhagen from attack from the sea side.
